Weld Fume Extraction

Welding ventilation systems can either vent the unabated fume direct to atmosphere or can utilise filter systems to capture the particulate generated by the operation. These can either be mechanical filters that collect the material on the surface of a substrate as the air passes through or alternatively could be of an electrostatic type. In the latter the fumes are passed through a high voltage cell that induces an electrical charge into the particulate, following which are a series of collection plates with an opposing charge. The particulate is attracted to the plate due to its electrostatic charge and adheres to the plate allowing the clean air to pass through the filter. The cells are then periodically removed and the collected particular either washed or brushed from the surface. Automatic wash down facilities can be provided as an alternative.

The smaller portable unit is ideal for maintenance and general working applications where it may be impractical for a larger unit to be utilised. Also when working within or around equipment it may be impractical to remove the item for repair elsewhere. The PHV is easily carried or placed adjacent to the operation and has an array of different hoods including on-tool extraction, positionable hoods and nozzles. The MF series of mobile filters can incorporate either multiposition arms or flexible hoses to place the welding extractor hood immediately adjacent to the operation. The mobile unit can be supplied with either a disposable filter, self-cleaning filter with either pneumatic connection or its own compressor, or an electrostatic type filter. These are also available in various voltages to suit the site conditions..
